A new AND/OR toggle is now available across the Observation Report, Observation Map, and Likelihood Map, giving you more control over how concept selections are applied and making it easier to explore both broad patterns and specific scenarios within your data.

By default, the toggle is set to OR, meaning:

  • Any observation containing one or more of the selected concepts is included in the dataset.

When switching to AND:

  • Only observations that contain all selected concepts are included, allowing for more precise filtering.

Example:
If you are interested in human–wildlife conflicts involving elephants that scared people:

  • In the OR scenario, all elephant-related conflicts (24) and all conflicts where people were scared (5) are included.

  • In the AND scenario, only conflicts that meet both criteria are returned (4), directly answering the question.

The AND / OR toggle can be changed at any time. If you modify your selection in the concept tree, you must click Get Observations or Calculate Map to retrieve the newly selected concepts before switching between AND and OR.
