Cluey 4.0 is an important step forward in making field data collection more standardised, higher in quality, and easier to adapt to local needs. Shaped by feedback from our field partners, this release combines emerging international standards with the flexibility to customise forms, add your own pick lists, and work with improved performance in the field.
What’s new in Cluey 4.0?
Customisable forms – build forms that match your needs.
- Custom pick lists – e.g. named rhinos, camera traps, chilli fences, beehives, households.
- Improved performance – carry over 1,000 observations without slowing down your phone.
- Field names for each concept – making it easier to analyse data with third-party software.
- Human-wildlife conflict updates – new field "Crop damage" (damage type, crop species, weight, growth stage) and a multi-select option for "Type of HWC" (e.g. record both "Attacked people" and "Damaged crops" in one observation).
- Point of interest updates – the old "Technical" field is replaced with more specific options like "Water", "Fire", "Camera trap", "Barrier", and "Fence", with space to add more detail.
What to do next?
Head to the Google Play Store to install Cluey if you’re new.
Or update to the latest version if you already have it.
After updating, refresh your Group List and wait until the spinning wheel disappears (this may take a moment).
