Unlike smartphones, Garmin devices are especially designed to function in rugged areas. By connecting your Garmin device to your smartphone, Cluey can make use of the improved GPS positions.
The solution
- Get a Garmin InReach Mini or an alternative
- Install the Garmin Explore app on your phone
In some cases, you have to grant Cluey access to the Garmin device, through the Explore app.

Alternatives such as Garmin smartphones are possible. These are the requirements that you should keep in mind:
- battery life expectations (and while on duty charging options)
- (bluetooth) connectivity of the device with your smartphone
