If you want to hand over your Android phone and prevent the receiver from using any app other than Cluey, you can use Screen Pinning. The Screen Pinning function works on almost any Android smartphone running version 7 (Nougat) or later. On versions 5 and 6, this feature may appear as Pin Windows.
Impact on Cluey
When the phone is locked with Screen Pinning:
- You cannot share an observation through WhatsApp, Signal, or any other app.
- You can log out, but cannot log back in.
If these limitations are acceptable, you can proceed to lock the phone.
Lock the Phone
- Go to Settings → Security → Advanced.
- Turn Screen Pinning ON and enable Ask for PIN before unpinning.
- Close all apps.
- Open Cluey.
- Open the app switcher and push Cluey up (without opening it).
- Depending on your Android version, the Pin function appears at the bottom or in the Cluey icon at the top of the window. Click Pin to restrict Android to Cluey only.
Unlock the Phone
If you need to update Cluey or want users to have full access to all apps again, you must unlock the phone first.
- Swipe the Cluey screen up and hold until the password prompt appears.
- Enter your password to unlock the phone.
If you forgot the password, you can reboot the phone to regain access.
