If you want to hand-over your Android phone and do not want the receiver to use any other app than Cluey, you can use the Screen Pinning function of Android to organise that. 


The Screen Pinning function works on almost any Android smartphone from version 7 (Nougat) and later. In version 5 and 6 this function is sometimes called Pin Windows.


Impact on Cluey

When you lock the phone, 2 functions in Cluey will be disabled:

  • you cannot share an observation through Whatsapp, Signal or any other app (as they are all locked)
  • you can log out, but not back in.

If these limitations do not form a problem, you can continue and lock the phone. 



Lock the phone

  1. Go to Settings / Security / Advanced.
  2. Turn Screen Pinning ON and switch 'Ask for PIN before unpinning' ON.
  3. Close all apps.
  4. Open Cluey.
  5. Open the app switcher and push Cluey up, without opening it yet.
  6. Depending on your Android version, the Pin-function is shown at the bottom or hidden in de Cluey-icon on top of the window. Click on the Pin to force Android to work with Cluey only. 




Unlock the phone

If you need to update Cluey or want users to have free access to all apps again, you have to unlock the phone first. This is done as follows:

  1. Swipe the Cluey-screen up and hold the screen until it requests your password.
  2. Enter password to unlock the phone.


If you forgot the password to unlock, you can reboot your phone.
