In order to create an observation or activate a track, it is required that the Cluey app knows your location. This location is determined by GPS. The following Android settings ensure that your location is accurate.
PROVIDE CLUEY WITH LOCATION PERMISSIONS
- Go to Settings / Location / App permission
- select Cluey
- from the Location permission, select the option: Allow all the time
MAKE SURE THE GPS OF YOUR PHONE USES SATELLITES ONLY
- Go to Settings / Location / Wi-Fi and Bluetooth scanning: turn both OFF
- Go to Settings / Location / Advanced / Google Location Accuracy: turn OFF
Note: on some android versions the menu looks a bit different then you should select Location / Use GPS only
MAKE SURE YOUR GPS DOES NOT GO TO SLEEP
To ensure that your GPS does not stop functioning when your phone is in sleep-mode, follow the steps below:
- Go to settings / apps
- Click on "Cluey"
- Click on Battery and select Allow background activity
- In newer Android versions, select the "ptimised" option (see screenshot)
As all phones and android versions have different menus, please contact us directly on "support@sensingclues.org" in case you have questions about a setting.
