Using GPS with Cluey
In order to create an observation or activate a track, the Cluey app requires access to your location. This location is determined via GPS. The following Android settings ensure that your location is accurate:
1. Provide Cluey with location permissions
Go to Settings → Location → App permissions
Select Cluey
Under Location permission, choose Allow all the time
2. Make sure your the GPS of your phone uses satellites only
Go to Settings → Location → Wi-Fi and Bluetooth scanning → turn both off
Go to Settings → Location → Advanced → Google Location Accuracy → turn off
Note: On some Android versions the menus may look different. In that case, select Location → Use GPS only.
3. Prevent your GPS from going to sleep
To ensure GPS does not stop working when your phone is in sleep mode:
Go to Settings → Apps
Tap Cluey
Tap Battery and select Allow background activity
In newer Android versions, select Unrestricted
As Android menus differ by phone and version, please contact us at support@sensingclues.org if you have any questions about these settings.
