Using GPS with Cluey

In order to create an observation or activate a track, the Cluey app requires access to your location. This location is determined via GPS. The following Android settings ensure that your location is accurate:

1. Provide Cluey with location permissions

  • Go to Settings → Location → App permissions

  • Select Cluey

  • Under Location permission, choose Allow all the time

2. Make sure your the GPS of your phone uses satellites only

  • Go to Settings → Location → Wi-Fi and Bluetooth scanning → turn both off

  • Go to Settings → Location → Advanced → Google Location Accuracy → turn off

  • Note: On some Android versions the menus may look different. In that case, select Location → Use GPS only.

3. Prevent your GPS from going to sleep
To ensure GPS does not stop working when your phone is in sleep mode:

  • Go to Settings → Apps

  • Tap Cluey

  • Tap Battery and select Allow background activity

  • In newer Android versions, select Unrestricted
